Services

With over 35 years experience working in the library space as an educator, library adviser and consultant I have developed a repertoire of skills, knowledge and competencies that provide a powerful platform from which to support schools as they strive to ensure their libraries are dynamic, impactful and future focussed. Whether it is working with an individual teacher or student, library staff or whole school, I can provide meaningful, contextualised and personalised support using a range of strategies:
Workshops and Training
Through the workshop or training model I target specific skills and knowledge for individuals, small groups or a whole staff. Sessions will be presented in your own school environment. Each workshop is accompanied by extensive course notes, resource lists where relevant, curriculum maps that link to outcomes for the Australian (Western Australian) Curriculum and professional development certificates with the associated teaching standards covered form the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Duration: From 1 hour to a full day or regular sessions over an extended period of time (e.g. one term).
Coaching and Mentoring
Long term change needs ongoing support. I can provide coaching and/or mentoring for teachers in implementing effective information and /or digital literacy learning as well as library management.
Duration: Usually 1 hour per session but negotiable
Professional Learning
Seminars, workshops and staff development days can be designed for specific school needs in the areas of digital learning, instructional design, digital literacy, design thinking for learning and how future learning skills can be implemented in the classroom.
Duration: From 1 hour to a full day
Library Review
School libraries in the 21st century are no longer just storehouses of information or technology. The impact of ubiquitous access to all types of information through the internet, together with cloud computing and the 24/7 nature of education means libraries have to re-think, re-vision and re-engineer the space and function of libraries. The Library Review will give schools the tools they need to ensure their library remains a relevant and impactful place of inspired learning.
